i do meatballs, sweet and sour, simmered in a can of crushed pineapple (or chunks if you want to skewer them) a little cider vinegar and brown sugar to taste.

Little smokies wrapped in 1/2 slice bacon and sprinkle a little brown sugar and bake. I like to use the precooked bacon.

Of all the fancy things I made for my friends birthday it was the good old Mrs Grass spinach dip in a bread bowl that everyone devoured. I offer it with crackers and veggies.

Redfeathers, Have you decided on something? My son loves spinach dip!

My DH and BIL favorite is my Jalepeno rolls. If you want the recipe I will be happy to post it. Also there Hot Artichoke dip, or cheese puffs with chicken salad. Also I put a small block of velvetta and a can of hot chili in my crockette (its like a baby crock pot) let that get all melty. You will need to stir it. Then just pack along a bag of tortilla chips. If you are extremely ambitious you can make your own and deep fry cut up tortillas! Have fun!

We are staying home. Dh is working until late tonight. I think the plan for tomorrow is to go ice fishing.

Tonight we are having Nachos. Easy for me and the DH and DS will think its a great New Years Eve dinner!

Oh I wanted to add...

When I was first out on my own a friend gave me this idea. It sounds very odd, but its amazingly good.

Put package of little smokies in crockpot with jar of grape jelly and ketchup.
I am not sure of the amount though. Just do it by taste. I t should be the consistencey of Bbq sauce.

Wow, you guys have given me some great ideas! Thank you for sharing and yes I would love the recipe for the jalepeno rolls. I might do those and the spinach dip. Or maybe the smokies...everything sounds so good, it's so hard to choose! lol

Now I am wishing I would have stocked up on ingredients for all of these things too! This is a favorite when we are camping. My BIL loves these, so when my SIL asked for the recipe I gladly shared. She is one who does not cook much and doesn't have any intrest in it. Well she saw how everyone raved about these, so now she brings them to every gathering that we are also at, and passes them off as her own:mad:!

Jalapeno Rolls

8 oz cream cheese
Jalapenos-You can use fresh, if so it takes about 5. I use the jar kind and I use about 1/2 cup. Adjust that amount depending on how hot you like it. We like them hot. NOTE: They get hotter as they sit. They are honestly better and hotter on the third day!
1 cup black olives
1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
flour tortillas

Chop peppers, olives and cheese in food processor(or by hand, pretty fine). Mix in cream cheese. Spread a large spoon full on flour tortilla, roll up and let chill at least 2 hours. Slice into 1 inch pieces. You can serve with a side of sour cream if you want. They are super easy but a very attractive, looks like you went to alot of trouble!!

Also if the mixture seems dry I add tiny amounts of jalapeno juice until I get a smoother consistencey.

If you want a dip to take. Get out the crock pot, a block of velveeta, can of ro-tel (or any kind of tomato & green chiles) hamburger meat and some milk. Cube up the velveeta, dump can of rotel, add about 1/2 inch milk. Melt down. Fry up 1 lb hamburger meat, drain and add to cheesey mixture. When all is melted and mixed up good, dip into with tortilla chips...mmmmmmmmm
There are many different versions. DO not use the one that calls for taco seasoning. I find that the taco seasoning makes it almost a gritty texture. You can also use ground turkey or ground pork.
I'll look and see if I can find anymore quick snacks for ya.

Those jalapeno rolls look really good. I'm taking some of those and I'll take a dip...maybe the taco dip in the crock pot. I just got a new crockpot for Christmas and it has clamps on the side to hold everything in. Thank you Skand, TheChickenchick and everyone else for the suggestions! I knew you wouldn't let me down.

Happy New Year!!!

Okay.. now I want dips and wraps and little artery clogging meat morsel thingies, too!!
