Hey Grandpa, What's for Supper? Part 2

Stopped raining long enough this evening for us to cook shishkebabs on the grill. Came out perfect!

Bacon, swiss and shroom meatloaf in the crock (still in the garage, too muggy!), salad and corn muffins.

The secret with the Cheddar-Beer Fondue is to use home-made, veggie chips for the dipping. Sweet potato chips are the best!
We use the Beer Cheese Dip recipe from "Gather 'Round the Grill" by George Hirsch with Marie Bianco. His veggie suggestions: russet potato, sweet potato, taro root, yucca, plantain and lotus root. We made the potatoes and the Yucca. Someday I will try the others, when I can find them...
His recipe is Monterey Jack, Cheddar, cream cheese, dry mustard, Tabasco, caramelized Garlic, Worcestershire sauce and beer.

Honestly, my mouth rarely waters, but I got to 'Tobasco' and I realized, I need to make this.
I have to have a cholesterol test in a month, so I am carrot juicing until then- But after that, I plan on clogging up with cheese.

The other night I made a turkey breast, it was cold and raining and I thought it would make the house smell good, which it did. We had Thanksgiving dinner in July, lol, with all the fixins...cranberry sauce, stuffing, mashed potatoes. No pie though. We do have leftovers, which is always good. Who knows, by Thanksgiving, we may not be able to afford turkey....

Tonight will be gourmet burgers on the grill. Carmelized onions bacon, swiss cheese and guacamole.

Hot open faced turkey sandwich for lunch, with cranberry sauce. Tonight we just had fresh fruit salad and icecream. Had a beautiful summer day today...but rain returns tomorrow for the whole week.

Country style pork ribs in a home made sugar free bbq sauce. Sweet beans and coleslaw to go with.
