Hey Grandpa, What's for Supper? Part 2

Stephanie R, I think that I would like to eat at your house. Tonight we will have left over chicken paprikash with dumplings and carrots. Went to the Amish market for fresh vegetables, couldn't find a parking place, and said to myself, "Go to Shop Rite on Monday."

So, I tried something new last night. I was so tired and had no energy to make the meal I had planned. The easiest thing I had available was some preformed grass fed hamburger patties, but the were frozen.

I knew I would need to get a really good sear on them to keep them from drying out before they were done. I sprinkled salt pepper and granulated garlic on one side and then... Now, here is the new part, I brushed them with sesame oil. I also sprinkled course ground sea salt on the bottom of an ungreased pan and got it nice and hot before plopping the frozen patties in seasoned side down. I repeated the seasoning and oil on the up side. Seared the first side flipped and seared the second side. I lowered the heat and covered them loosely and turned them often to keep the juices flowing tword the middle. NO smashing, never smash.

I served them medium with catsup, a little mayo, avocado and mild white cheddar on a potato bun.

Wow, were they ever amazing. The sesame oil added such a nice flavor.

So good we had them again tonight...

I'll have to try that sesame oil trick, thanks!

Lat night was a mess of trout we caught and roasted cauliflower and mushrooms. It's too early to know what's for dinner here tonight, but I'm thinking something with chicken breast.

Last night was bacon, swiss and shroom meatloaf with cheesy mashed taters and peas.

tonight will be pulled bbq chicken sammiches on onion buns with all the fixings. Slaw and maybe tater tots.

Last night we had stuffed peppers, string beans and mashed potatoes.

Tonight I will make lemon/pepper breaded flounder fillets, mashed potato pancakes, and carrots.

Last night was a chicken, cauliflower, and brown rice bake with steamed haricot verts and a salad. I'm trying to eat a little lighter and have been using some recipes from the Flat Belly Diet cookbook, with some twists of my own. I can't just leave a recipe like it is ... ever.

Tonight will be lemony greek chicken, salad, and either brussel sprouts or broccoli.
