Yes, I suppose that's all there is to this thread. BUT, you guys are an inspiration and I've gotten to try new things that I might not have done otherwise. If your older son is the beneficiary of something yummy, perhaps he'll realize that it translates from a thread to his dinner plate!

I told him, everything we had for supper the previous week came from here! This stuff is gold!

You are absolutely 100% right!! So I just want to say THANK YOU to all of you! You have helped me out when I had NO plan or NO ingredients. I have come here and asked how to make things I would have never done before. Remember the chili? You guys helped me make it great! You have helped me make dozens of meals. Can't forget the great breakfast for dinner on wednesdays(Backyard Buddies ) You are kind enough to share new and wonderful recipes from your own kitchens. I have tried so many new things thanks to you. You are all great!

Back at ya!

Thanks, ladies! I rushed in the bathroom and flushed my hand with cold water, then betadine ..and applied pressure 'til I got the bleeding to stop. It's swollen and some pretty purple and blue colors ..little tender ...but I think I'll survive.

The whole thing was my fault, too ...she's blind, she's really old, and I stopped talking to her just seconds before my hand was too close to her face and she reacted instinctively. My bad, completely!

cknmom.. I hope your migraine isn't too bad, cuz I still have a touch of mine. It's been about a week, I think.. meds work some days ..but not the next.

As for dinner ..I did like I said ..chicken in the crockpot .....but I did make an effort to make it interesting, so I put some ghee (clarified butter) on the bottom ..added some whole/squished green cardamom seed pods (5 or so) ...about 1/4 c. of pomegranate seeds ..cup or so of rice on top of that ....then some thinly sliced fresh ginger, chopped garlic cloves (2 or 3), and some very thinly sliced yellow onion. All of these are kind of layered ..oh.. and a layer of thick, bias cut carrot slices. Put a small, but frozen, hen on top of that ..tucked blue, red and white "new" potato halves around the hen ....and seasoned, of course. I used Garam Masala over the rice and again, over the bird ...salt 'n pepper ...and I added a little yogurt in between the bird and everything else. *There's a cup or so of water in there, too..

It sounds crazy as all heck, I'm sure ..and I'm not positive on the results ....but it will be a resemblance to Biryani, I think ..and the pomegranate should make it a little more interesting. We'll see!

Hopefully tomorrow, I can peel the shrumps that I had out for yesterday ...migraine took over before I could get them done ..so hubby brought House of Curries home for us

chicksgalore.. I'm not 'happyhen', but I make stir-fried rice pretty often and it's done with leftover (or freshly made, but cooled completely) rice, usually.

The key is to have a wok, really ..or a big enough pan to be able to move it around in the hot oil ....adding veggies and eggs and all that, as you go ..so you want to be able to push the rice to the side and scramble up your eggs, etc. Then toss it all back together and season it up with some soy, a little fish sauce ..if you like ...and whatever else.

Stir-fried rice can be as simple as you like ...or as extravagant as your imagination and kitchen stock will take you! We like it lots of ways around here ..especially DH

DD was accepted to Grad school (English major with enough credits to minor in Psychology, Sociology and Spanish), so dinner was a celebration.

Baked crostini and mozzarella topped with sauteed garlic, anchovies and sundried tomatoes, ricotta and spinach gnocchi with butter and Parmesan, shrimp in a spicy white wine sauce, a simple Italian style salad with aged balsamic, and I baked 3 loaves of crusty Italian bread to sop up the sauces. Zabaglione for dessert. Wine to toast.

Aneesa - keep an eye on that hand. Soaking in dish soap and warm water for 10 minutes a couple times a day should help keep the wound clean.

And I agree wholeheartedly that there are a lot of creative and talented cooks here!

Thanks BB. DH and I are quite proud.

Tonight is a Waldorf chicken salad on mixed spring greens with either Challah or Vienna bread ... whichever I feel like baking.

Aneesa - hope that critter bite is feeling better today.

happyhen- Congrats!!You two must be SOOOO proud!!!

Some kind of tuna and rice casserole.

No migrain today!!!

Aneesa- How are you today? How is your hand?

Tonight I'm making breakfast burritos with sausage, eggs and o'brien potatoes. I'll top them with salsa and sour cream.
