Hey Grandpa, What's for Supper? Part 2

Aneesa thanks for the welcome back. I got sick and had an infection go thru my gums so had to have dental work, it was not fun at all. So I have been on a liquid diet for ever LOL not really. Now I am up to soft foods and in a week or so maybe real food.

It has not been too bad if I would just drop some pounds with it then that would be great. But that never happens LOL.

I have my list of foods to cook (been watching way to much of the cooking chanel, nothing like self torture LOL)

I am going to try a new donut recipe and make a new carmel ice cream topping to dip them in.

Then I will be trying out the Jumbo coconut shrimp and warm bacon potato salad I got from down home with the Neely's.

Then fried fish with Pecan squares That shoud be fun.

Then I am going to cook on the grill.

Boy ya will see me on here the day I can eat those things LOL. Too bad my son does not like fish. Of course he really does not know if he likes fish. His sister said she does not like it so he says the same thing now.

He turns 17 on the 28th and I will be making him a white cake with rasberry filling and I will be eating some of that if I have to swallow it whole LOL.

Zoo... sounds like you have quite the menu planned out when you're able to chomp again

I was hoping to pass off 3 dozen chocolate chip and pecan cookies as tonight's meal, but I think I better add some meat and veggies to that menu ..so spaghetti, it is! ..some salad and yesterday's bread, too... okay, fine!

Grilled lake trout (I had a good morning fishing!

) stuffed with lemon slices and a rosemary sprig drizzled with olive oil, rice pilaf, steamed green and yellow wax beans from last summer's garden. Fresh baked olive oil bread and a pistachio bundt cake.

Aneesa's Muse :

I've been a little off here, lately ...stuff going on with my immediate family.. but I still cook....
. . .
Tonight is yet too far away to consider... moment by moment is about all I can manage... but there will be food.

I'm sorry Aneesa's Muse. I hope that whatever it is, that it resolves for the better. Until then, you're in my thoughts and prayers.

Aneesa's Muse I would have accepted cookies.

Those sound divine. Pecans are my favorite though. I had a friend in Oklahoma that had pecan trees on her property. Every time I visited I would come home with one suitcase plum full of them!

Happyhen I am jealous that you had trout! Growing up I always fished with my Grandpa. Trout was the only fish I knew, with the acception of an occasional catfish! My DH only likes Walleye so that's what we fish for. However last year he accidentally caught the biggest trout I had ever seen! I begged him to keep it. He wrapped it in foil and bbqd it. It was wonderful!

DH did his "beer can" chicken tonight. Only we prefer it done with orange Crush soda instead. It seems to make it sweeter and moister. I made Au-gratin potatoes to go with it. DS shared his chocolate bunny for dessert!!

Pray tell this "beer can" ..orange crush, mt. dew, dr. pepper ...chicken recipe?

I can always use a variation on the ol' faithful "yardbird"

Btw, Spaghetti turned into Jambalaya... kind of similar.. just different spices and starch
