Hey Grandpa, What's for Supper? Part 2

Ham and split pea soup sures sounds good. It's warmer here, but still chilly with the winds.

Last night, we had pork chops baked in baked beans. Green beans, too. Leftover cake and chocolate pudding for dessert.

Tonight, my DD has requested Corny Chicken Wraps. It's a favorite of hers. For the sweet tooth, I made pumpkin streusel coffee cake. It's a new recipe I put together - hope it's good.

Wow! It sounds like everyone is having yummy suppers! I have never made Split Pea soup. I didn't like it until I tried my MIL made some. Hers is fantastic!!

I cheated. I made 2 trips to town today so I didn't spend much time at home. I had some stew in the freezer so I threw that in the crock-pot with some fresh garlic and onion and let it simmer all day. It smells pretty good, (I just got home:)). I will serve garlic bread with it. DHs Friday night so I think a glass of wine, or 2 will be desert.

You guys are too funny. Right now I would take any warm weather seeing as last Tuesday we got 1 1/2 inches of snow LOL. Ya all are talking about your gardens and if we plant before June 3rd we are replanting LOL. Too funny hey.

My dream is to live in a place with no poison snakes, gators, crocs or bears of any kind, a place that I can garden all year long LOL. Guess I got to wait for heaven for that one.

I am up to soft foods again. I hope to be on reg food within the week.

You could be MY neighbor.

No gators, crocs, bears of any kind and you can garden all year long. While there may be some poison snakes somewhere within a few miles of my house, I've never seen one. Ever.

However, you'd have to live on a postage stamp sized lot like me and limit yourself to just a few chickens.

Don't know yet about dinner. I think DS is bringing home a friend to spend the night so it'll probably involve mass quantities of whatever it is.

Congrats Jean!!

We had bbq hot dogs and homemade baked beans last night. Tonight will be meatloaf and boxed rice. We went from 86* on tues. to 54* today and SNOW forcasted for tonight and tomorrow!!

I went from living by the beach and having a WONDERFUL huge garden all year long( I gave away tomaotoes for Christmas every year!), to not being able to plant until the end of May! But I would rather be here in the mountains!!

Sat. my wonderful sweet mother in law is coming to see the puppies and the wildflowers that are blooming right now, we ill be having bbq tri tip and I am making potato salad today, carrot cake for dessert. Sunday my sister and I will be going through our mom's things and will make tacos for a late lunch/early dinner in mom's new kitchen that she didn't get to use hardley at all,

I have to giggle a bit when you all muse about the weather. On Wednesday it was 70 and on Thursday it snowed 8 inches. Supper is something from a box because I hate running around town on bad roads.

CRAZY WEATHER!

We're supposed to hit 80 today, then drop back to the 60's and maybe more rain Sunday.

My TGIF dinner will be Cheater's Pizza - I use whole wheat tortillas for a crust & whatever + mozzarella for topping. I'm short on mozz, so may use some provolone too. Drizzle with olive oil and sprinkle on some oregano and/or basil. If you have fresh basil that goes on just after it comes out of the oven.
I spray the bottom side of the tortilla with cooking spray so it doesn't stick then bake on a cookie sheet at 375 for about 10 minutes or less - until the cheese is melted & bubbly.

cknmom - The wildflowers are WONDERFUL at this time of the year. How fun! I wish you and your sister lots of comfort as you go through your mother's things. It's good you have each other. I know it'll be hard.

Take your time and don't rush through it. I wish we had taken much longer to go through my grandmothers' things. Be sure to get all the pictures of family and agree to make copies for others when you can do so. It's so sad when a lifetime of photos ends up in the trash down a future generation because no one remembers who these people are.

You know, having grown up here in So. Cal, I never realized until the other day that tri tip isn't that common outside of this area. If you all have never had it, you must try it. You may have to explain to your butcher how to cut it, tho. There're tips on the Net.

brown_jes - Stay safe in that snow!

2DogsFarm - Welcome to the kitchen! Your cheaters pizza sounds fun! I'll have to remember that one.
