Hey Grandpa, What's for Supper? Part 2

A pile of golden, chewy fried pig cheeks, mashed taters, milk gravy, and creamed corn! ***pop*** That dream bubble just burst. It’ll probably be more like half a baked chicken breast, riced cauliflower, and sliced cucumber. <sigh>
:gig

It must be hard to eat healthy food all the time!

I’m not even sure it’s that healthy! For instance, cardio diet says whole wheat bread. Kidney diet says white bread. And so it goes....
Did they make you see a nutritionist or do you know the diet well due to your Sister having kidney issues?

I’ve been (admittedly loosely) following the cardio diet since my heart attack. In fact, it was exactly 4 years ago almost to the day that I was in the hospital. Wow! I just realized that! Anyway, all the shopping and making meals for my sister when we were back there gave me a pretty good idea of where I need to be. She also had the cardio/renal diets to follow.

So between that and the links on the“help me” thread I started, plus the nephrologist’s warnings about salts, potassium, and phosphorus, I’m managing. My next appointment is March 5 and that’s when he plans to give me the referral to a dietician.

It sounds like they are taking good care of you!

We don't have cracker barrel here doing chilie dogs so wrap the all beef dogs in pizza dough I make not so much bread roll it thin cover 1/2 to 3/4 of the dog okay yes it is Nalley chilie with a pound of sausage added and one jalapeno

Just got back from the dentist and am not cooking tonight. It's turkey night at Cracker Barrel.

Okay, change of plans. Inflammation has convinced me to go back to low carb. Tonight I had lemon/pepper trout, green beans, broccoli, and cole slaw - little bit of sugar there I think, but minimal. So starts the journey.

Sorry the inflammation has taken the wind from you sales bud

Hasn't slowed me down a bit, but I am just tired of the hurting. I know how to help it - just have to exert a little will power. Last time I overdid (yeah, I know big surprise) and dropped too much weight. Went from 156 # to 135 # and caught pure heck from my doctor. I am now stabilized at 146 # but have to cut the inflammation. I'll be moderate.
