left overs here. Got to clean out the fridge.
You betcha. My stepmother would bish about all the canned goods my grandmother had in her pantry. But grandma grew up during the 'great' depression and never wasted a thing. So glad I got to spend time with her and her sisters, Tut, and Lula. I learned a lot from them without even realizing it. Now I have a little farm (1.66 acres) of my own, and am reclaiming the land for my bird and maybe a goat or two. I get extra canned food whenever I can, plus dried beans, rice.. you name it. And I've remembered how to can just from watching my mom when I was growing up. Gardening is also a must.Waste not, want not.

So have mine Ron, even my parents are gone. Dad passed last year just before his 94th BD. But the time we spent with them is priceless. There are many a times I'm out mowing when I wished I had granddad's old Gravely mower with the riding seat he made for it.Nice Story!
My Depression era relatives have all passed now but they were an different bunch for sure!
