Hey Grandpa, What's for Supper? Part 2

Sweet Baby Ray's tends to work nicely here as well.

OK, I nixed my Persian idea for tonight in favor of Mahi Mahi marinated in EVOO, lemon, garlic, and herbs. Depending on how my week shapes up, I might still do the Persian food later in the week.

we are bbqing tonight. it will be hamburgers, hot dogs bbq ribs, potatoe salad cole slaw and baked beans for desert it is amish bread. well got to go fire up the grill! oh and Sweet Baby Rays is the BEST!!!

Last night, it was leftovers.

Tonight, we are having Honey Cumin pork chops, three bean salad and a mixed salad with greens from the garden - if I get out there to get them. I'm nursing a sore leg. A yearling bull decided to go exploring and as he passed me going back into the barnyard, he gave me a side kick with one of his back legs. I should have been mindful of that possibiblity, but I was focused on the other cows heading our way to check out what was going on.

Anway, here is the Cheeseburger Sandwich recipe.

Crockpot Cheeseburger Sandwiches

1 1/2 lbs. ground beef
8 oz. of Velveeta type cheese, cubed
2 - 3 Tab. milk
1/2 - 3/4 cup green pepper, chopped
1/2 - 3/4 cup onion, chopped
2 - 3 cloves garlic, minced
salt and pepper to taste
sandwich buns

Brown ground beef, adding green peppers and onions near the end. Drain. In the crockpot, combine the cooked meat and remaining ingredients. Mix well and cook on low for 5 hours. Time may vary depending on your crockpot. Serve on buns.

Ouch prairiegirl ! I sure hope you're healed up nicely soon. Thank you for the recipe. Sounds delish!

It's B4D, so I'll be thinking about that in a few minutes. I really need to do something with eggs! With only 2 of my 3 girls laying (they're all over 3 years old), I'm usually low on eggs, but not today!

Been on reading but didn't take time to post. Mostly sandwiches as my son has not been home too much.

Tomorrow I am having all my kids over for lunch and supper, it has been hot as hades here and we are not use to that. It was 103 in the shade today and it has been in the mid to high 90's all week. Looks like the rest of the week is going to be the same. I got a 8' x 3' pool and so they are coming to fight for a spot LOL should be fun as there will be 3 small kids 1 mid size kid and 4 adult kids LOL. Can't wait to break out the camera.

I am cooking brats, hot dogs, burgers and the extra roo's we butchered last Sunday, I have 3 of those. Not sure what I will be tenderizing them in but will be butterflying them and grilling them.
Potato salad, stuffing, broc and cheeze sauce maybe some corn on the cob, chips and dip. Brownies with chocolate frosting for desert.

Does anyone have a fudge frosting recipe. My Mom use to make it on the stove top and pour it over the cake and it tasted just like fudge. I can't ask my Mom as she has been gone almost 11 years and nobody in my family learned how to make it. You would think that out of 13 kids someone would know but nope nobody bothered.

Thanks everyone for the recipes and the wonderfull ideas.

Have a great day. Try to stay cool.

Sounds like a nice time, Zoo! I hope you all enjoy the pool and it helps you all cool down a bit.

I don't personally have a recipe for this, but always go to Allrecipes.com for these types of things. Since they're recipes posted by people like you and me, often you find old family recipes. I did a search for you here:
http://allrecipes.com/Search/Recipe...archIn=All&SortBy=Rating&Direction=Descending

The following got great reviews and were often described as "fudge like" by several of those reviewers:

Backyard Buddies, you are welcome. I like sharing recipes as much as I like getting family favorites from others.

Zoo, sounds like a great menu for a fun day spent with family outside. It's been nasty hot here in NW IN, too. We went from cool to nasty hot overnight. But, I suppose that's what we should expect from the Midwest with weather.

My DH made plans for us to go out for pizza tonight. I'm not sure that's going to work out. If not, it's Breakfast for Dinner here.

Stay cool.

im fryin chicken, mashed potatoes , gravy, homemade buttermilk bisciuts and slaw (maybe Im not crazy about slaw)tomorrow is pinto beans again fresh mustard greens fried taters and cornbread

I hope you all find some relief from the hot weather. We're still in June Gloom mode here, cloudy and cool most of the day, with the sun peeking out toward mid afternoon. It's pretty typical from May (May Gray) to early July here, something that sorely disappoints tourists who think that it's always sunny here.

Dinner tonight will be lasagna, salad, and fresh bread. There will only be 3 of us tonight because DS is going to a summer celebration party at the house of one of his friends.
