Hey Grandpa, What's for Supper? Part 2

Last night was Polenta with Marinara Sauce baked in the oven with a ton of cheese and small side salad of fresh lettuce that we are currently growing in the green house. Tonight our favorite "Crab Fondue" and Martinis. I submitted the recipe for BYC Cookbook - but here it is if anyone wants it.

Crab Fondue

1 (5-oz) jar Kraft English Cheddar Cheese
1 (8 oz) pkg, Cream Cheese
1 (7 oz) can crab meat
1/2 cup half & half
1/2 tsp. Worcestershire sauce
1/4 tsp garlic salt
1/2 tsp cayenne pepper
Baguette

Cut Baguette into cubes so that each piece has crust. Combine English Cheddar and cream cheese in double boiler over boiling water. Cook until smooth. Add remaining ingredients. Heat until well blended. Serve medium warm to hot.

Note: A fondue dish is helpful but not required. There is a wonderful crust that develops on the inside edge of the pot/fondue dish as people gobble this down and it is divine - cook gets first dibs!

HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE

Happy New Year to you too Dragonfly!

Just hubby and I and a quiet celebration. I doubt we will even stay awake until 10! So instead of a normal supper I am doing a few appetizers to enjoy with a glass of wine ( or 2

)! I making the Boneless Buffalo Chicken from the BYC cookbook ( a wonderful BYC buddy sent me one as a surprise

) cheese dip with crackers and sliced summer sausage with provolone on crackers. Nothing fancy, but a little different.

Happy almost New Years to my cooking buddies!

I was out most of the afternoon visiting a new BYC buddy talking chickens. When I got home, there was about enough time to pick up a pizza to chow on then go on a walk to work it off.

In a few minutes, we'll ring in the New Year with New York and will probably be in bed before the New Year arrives on the left coast. That's OK. I usually wake up to the fireworks, smile to welcome the new year, and roll over and go back to sleep.

Here's to wishing you all a wonderful 2010.

Today we are having for our New Years dinner what we were supposed to have for our Christmas dinner....

Roasted Brisket in red wine (already in the oven for an hour now, about 3 to go)
German Sausage (speciality type made in a nearby town)
Blackeye Pea Salad
Fried Green Tomatoes (left over from garden)
Baked Sweet Potatoes
Fresh Bread

Did you know that the fat in Brisket is similar to Olive Oil??? My neighbor who owns a BBQ restaurant told me that but I didn't believe him so I looked it up....and he is right!

**** Happy New Year ****

I just ordered this book. Can't wait, although I have a feeling I won't be eating large quantities of these recipes since I'm trying to lose weight.

Today is a holiday though.

We are having cornish game hens, stuffing, sweet potatoes, mashed potatoes and maybe something else. I'm going to try to keep it simple since it's just the two of us.
