Hey Grandpa, What's for Supper? Part 2

Welcome back!

I've been meaning to try the bread. There were two methods - one in the Dutch oven with a single recipe and the other one was the 5-minutes a day recipe which had several variations and was baked on a stone. Are you combining the two to come up with all of your variations?

I have the 5 minute bread book too, but this new book is superior and much better. I just used his basic dough recipe linked below and added the fresh herbs, another with cheese and onions - which was denser. The ground flex seed on the latest loaf was OK - not sure I liked it really toasted like it came out. But the whole bread itself is very good. I started another Olive loaf this morning.

If you want any specific recipe let me know and I'll post it for you. In reading the book the reason his works so well in the making the chewy crust is that his formula has more water in it and as the steam escapes from the dough it is captured in the mini oven that is created with the lid on the Dutch oven - so it works better than spraying water in oven or having a pan of water below the bread. So an oven within an oven type thing.

You do need to try this one - its worth it!!

It was warm here today, so I didn't feel like heating up the kitchen. So, I made a big garden salad and topped it with grilled chicken breast. Served with a side of bread. Once this heat breaks, I look forward to trying the Dutch oven bread. Sounds yummy!

Been a really busy week and I have been obsessed with the new bread recipe. I made one night before last that was with walnuts, raisins and the liquid was carrot juice. Hot here too so we had a nice salad and bread.

Having compnay this weekend so BBQing with lots of goodies from the garden and of course - MORE bread.

Have great weekend everyone

We didn't get our steaks last night so we will be having them tonight…

I was about to put the steaks on when I remembered that I hadn't gone to town and picked up my prescriptions. Since it’s a 45 minute drive into town I wouldn’t have time to cook when I got home; so I put the steaks back in the frig and picked up some Chinese take out while I was in town.

You remind me of myself when I first learned about this bread.... I couldn't get enough of it. I had to make myself slow down and only make it once or twice a week. I have real portion control issues with this bread.
