BB - great minds again? But you out-did me with the cornbread and salad.

We just had crackers. And like you, I've been wondering if Tutter is ok. If you hear anything from her, please let us know.

I made a big batch of chili for tonight, and again later this week. The rest I froze for "instant" meals like chili dogs or chili cheese fries.

Hey, after reading all of your great meals, it's an honor to be lumped in with you happyhen! Great idea about freezing the extras. If I have any leftovers, I'll have to do the same.

Not only am I doing cornbread and salad, but while I was whipping up the chili (had to pressure cook the beans) I even made a batch of Oatmeal, Milk, and Honey soap! It smells good enough to eat, but I'll refrain.

Perhaps I'll try emailing her again. I have an email address for her but my last attempt went without a reply. It has been a long while, so I am getting quite worried.

Do you ever have one of those indecisive days? For some reason I made a huge pot of cooked brown rice. (some was used for homemade dog food). I also boiled a whole Cornish X....and I cooked a whole pot of pinto beans. I chopped up a bunch of zuchinni, onions, garlic and peppers as well...so now I have to figure out what I'm going to do with it all. I figure I'll make chicken noodle soup out of the stock and some of the chicken....and maybe red beans and rice with the veggies or something more spicy with the veggies and rice...I dunno. Not sure what I'm trying to get at..either way I have a bunch of things going and no real plan yet.

Redfeathers - just a thought, but why not a Spanish style omelette or frittata using the veggies you chopped, the beans and a Spanish rice for sides? Freeze the cornish meat and stock for later meals.

Was her last post over there right around the time of the fires in California? In her posts in the days before we last heard from her on this thread, she was talking about the smoke and how close the fires were to her.

I always enjoyed the thought she put into her posts. I hope everything is OK.

Here's a link to what Reinbeau asked. Obviously I must have run across her on an old thread that was brought back to life.

Last night my son made quesadillas, with chicken, green pepper, onions, cheese. And nachos. Yum! Night before we had blt's and jello. Tonight we're having a big ham, sweet potato fries, and some sort of vegetable. Today's paper said one of the best meats for your money is ham, or turkey, much cheaper than hamburger.

I like them becuase they go so far and you can do so many things with them. Sometimes here in CA. it's hard to find anything but a spiral cut ham(other than canned). You can't do much with those. I like the whole or half hams. I use the first few slices for ham steaks, then cut the rest up to use in other ways.

When is the last time anyone heard from Tutter on here? I vaguely remember her posting and saying that her internet was wonky after all the fires and that her presence would be too. Was that someone else I'm thinking of?

I hope she's alright and her family is safe.

So, she hasn't posted since the end of July. Is there a way to search and see what that last post said? This was about the same time I was heading out on a driving vacation to Washington. The smoke from the fires was pretty bad up there in Nor. Cal. Like I said, I have a direct email address for her but when I tried to email a couple of months ago, I got no reply. In that email I let her know that we were all asking about her. Given how she always took the time to comment on each and every post, I would think that she'd check in with us knowing we were worried. So, that she hasn't yet has ME worried!

We're not having our usual breakfast for dinner tonight. My son's school band is having a BBQ.
