My recipe would be hard to follow for sure - I never measure anything......

For my pot pies, I just basically make a creamy chicken stew all the veggies and the chicken cut up real small bite sized- and then the pastry, pop that into muffin pans and we're good to go!

OH MY GOSH, That is exactly what we are having except for dessert we are having red velvet cake with chocolate frosting, strawberry's and whipped cream.
We always decorate the table and use "fancy" dishes and candles. The kids valentines from DH and I are set neatly in front of there plates. This year small boxes of chocolates.

That is too funny! I had planned to have strawberry shortcake, but the strawberries were just toooo expensive. The cake mix & ice cream were less than 1 box of berries! Sad. I have 25+ plants in the garden, so I will hold out for MY strawberries!!
Instead of cards this year, I made beaded bracelets with heart-shaped beads for the girls, and hung each around a plastic container of mini-M&M's. But we will also do the fancy dining tonight! The girls hate that, since it means REALLY minding their manners....

I'm almost ashamed to admit this, but would you believe I made:

Smothered Steak and gravy with rice
Mustard Greens from the garden
Great Northern Beans with smoked bonless pork hocks, no less
And cornbread!

Yeah, I know. But it's comfort food!

I changed my mind, I went into town and bought a beautiful roast, I also hit Bauman Farms market for produce and am making a huge salad and sticking with the original plan for artisan bread and roasted garlic. Can't wait for dinner!!! yay.

My aunt and uncle invited my parents to go to Black Angus with them, and my brother is babysitting their kids so dinner is just for me and the dogs.

I cooked up a couple tortillas on the stove, some packaged grill chicken slices, shredded some cheese, and got some shredded lettuce. Spread out the lettuce, cheese and chicken on the tortilla and ate it,lol. It was pretty good. I drank kool-aid on the side because there was nothing else. Finished it off with a Hershey Kiss.

Oh, the dogs got dog food.

Well, here it is, Friday, February 15. A new day has risen that the Lord has made. Let us rejoice, be glad,

and make plans for the supper menu tonight.

As a friendly reminder, should you not want to bare the wrath of MissPrissy: ( What a woman! )

1. If you talk about food, include the recipe
2. If it comes in a box and is instant, it ain't food!

Now it's time to put my biscuits in the oven.

Today is friday. Fish on friday, Yogiman. Yeah, it is a Southern thing, too, ya'll!

Fried fish (probably lovely flounder fillets or maybe catfish)
Potatoes (baked or fried, still undecided)
Salad (slaw or green, still undecided)
Hushpuppies
lemon dessert (probably a nice lemon meringue)
Iced Tea (the house wine of the south)

recipes:

Fish-
Roll seasoned fish in cornmeal and season flour mixture and deep fry in hot peanut oil. Drain on paper towels.

Potatoes-Wash. Wrap in foil and bake at 400F until done or slice into strips and fry after the fish.

Hushpuppies- - close enough for gov't work.

Salad -
Salad tossed - you know the drill
Coleslaw - cabbage shredded, onion shreded, dill relish, carrots grated, salt, pepper, dukes mayo, salt, mix and chill.

Lemon Pie - ha! Edwards in your freezer case. I have a lot to do today and don't have time for a homemade one.

Tea - 5 tea bag and a quart of water. Bring to a boil. Turn off. Let steep. Remove tea bags while hot. Stir in 1/2 - 1 cup sugar and let the sugar melt into the hot brew. Pour into a 1 gallon pitcher. Fill to the top with cold water. Refrigerate. Serve over ice. If you want it unsweet leave out the suagr. if you want it less sweet add less sugar. Want it sweeter? If you want syrup it is in the pantry.

Bon appetite, ya'll!

Fish looked crummy or was waaaay too expensive when we did our weekly grocery shopping. We are having meatloaf, mashed taters, asparagus and biscuits.

Meatloaf: ground beef, breadcrumbs, eggs, seasonings. I mash it all together, make it loaf shaped and pour ketchup over the top. Bake until done. I don't follow a recipe, but wing it.

Taters: If you don't know how, bless your heart!

Asparagus: Rinse, snap off bottom part where it snaps easiest. Pour some Italian dressing (oil based) into a fry pan, throw in the asparagus, cover with a lid. Saute in dressing until desired doneness, stirring every so often.

Biscuits: Bisquick. Deal with it.

Dessert is left-over choc-chip mint ice cream from last night.

Yogi?

You haven't told us what you're cooking today ...

No, I haven't. I got myself all worked up this morning about my expected shipment of baby chicks and rushed off to the post office only to find out that Monday is a holiday.
BRAIN CRAMP!!!!!! What to do now?

What was it Grandpa Jones on Hee Haw used to say when asked what was for supper:

Grits & gravy
Fresh beans
Blackeye Peas
and turnip greens

Let's see now: Friday? How about mabey:
Fried catfish again this week, or shrimp (if wife peels them) and or oysters (if I can find some fresh ones).
Home fries
Hushpuppies
Coleslaw

Gotta work on this one after I get both of my nerves settled down.
