Hey Grandpa, What's For Supper?

Cheryl,
The tamales are not a do or die thing. You can brown some good hamburger meat and add a can of chili that will do the same thing. I have used several variations of meat, i.e. hamburger, pan sausage, pork stew meat, beef short ribs, and beef stew meat. The meat just takes longer to cook. The hamburger or pan sausage is quickest.

Tonight's supper was homemade beef vegetable soup with cornbread.
The chicken, sausage and okra gumbo is simmering on the stove for tomorrow. To bad BrandiGirl is gone to Houston tomorrow. She will have to eat tacos and a malt. lol

Yogi-Have you already posted your gumbo recipe somewhere? At camp meeting this year they served a wonderful gumbo...big pile of rice on the bottom and then the 'liquid/chicken mixture poured over the top....a gal from your state tought them how to make it. It was soooooo good!

No, I haven't but that would not be a problem. I'll just have to take the time to do so and I will. Please keep in mind that as a man I never make a recipe the same way twice. I'm always fixing it if you know what I mean. lol

Been meaning to ask you something. Learn me this. I see where in your cooking you specify self rising flour. No problem. You then specify baking powder. Why? I don't understand that part. I was always under the impression that baking powder was not needed in self rising flour, just general purpose flour. Time for me to learn from you.

Yogiman, I made home made french fries last night with slap ya mama seasoning on them.
You really should be very careful dispensing that stuff. It is very addictive. Causes people to do strange things when they run out of it and start withdrawing.
