Hey Grandpa, What's For Supper?

I think that I am going to have:

Smothered down pork chops in gravy over rice, fresh green beans with new potatoes,
white shells & cheddar noodles, &
either dinner rolls or homemade biscuits.

Dessert:

Either strawberry cake or cheesecake. Hadn't decided on that yet.

Lots of ice cold fresh milk

Ugh, Ms. Dorthy, I ain't one to go and invite myself or barge in for supper on somebody but that sure does sound mighty good. I don't spose you'd have an extra place to set another plate would ya'?
I bet them pork chops came from that Piggly Wiggly store there in Springfield too, didn't they?

Oh, you guys are killiing me. Everything sounds so good, but I feel like c**p - the flu, I think. Too achey to do more than heat up some soup. Poor family will have to figure something out on their own  Does them good to fend for themselves sometimes; makes them appreciate me more. Back to bed for me, dreaming of smothered pork chops and stuffed peppers and strawberry cake. At least me dreams will be sweet!

Thanks, Yogi, for clarifying the issue about Dreamy's (Boston) butt.

I've never heard that phrase here in Cali. They simply call those Pork Butts.

Come on down Tutter, tho at this point it's getting kind of late for tonight's dinner. What was it . . . The chicken, the broccoli, or the Two Buck Chuck?

Maybe I need to give you a heads up next time I make grilled chicken or pop open the Two Buck Chuck.

Plans are for home made chicken and veggie soup (celery, carrots, onion, corn) with chicken breasts and seasonings. Then, I'm gonna make some more of those really yummy rolls we had last week. The family is still talking about 'em!

That is a very kind thing to say! Thank you. I'm always in the kitchen or the laundry room...so I try to enjoy myself while there.
Tonight though is my homemade chili, my husband asked special for this!
Yeah, I know it 80, humid, and he wants chili! But thats alright! It's easy...will serve it with cornbread and baked potatoes...with all the fixings!
Dessert is going to be ice cream...vanilla...it's a long story!

Parsonswife, I enjoy making chili. May I ask how you make yours?

Backyard Buddies, darn, you're right, I;m too late. But I would have needed an ark anyway....it's really raining here today! It was the chicken specifically, but I'd be happy to have broccoli with it. (I'm pretty easy when good food is being cooked!)

I'm so sorry you're sick, Lizardz. I hope you feel better soon. C[_] <------ Chicken Soup.

Hey Yogiman, any time you are over this way, then you are welcome to dinner. Just let me know in advance, that way I am prepared.

These chops didn't come from Piggly Wiggly this time. They usually do, but didn't feel like driving that far this time........lol

Always happy to share anything I have, mine is nothing fancy, mostly a hodgepodge of things...it does vary, but the basics for me is:
Ground chuck (or beef) fried, & drained 2 lb
Reheated pinto beans (leftovers from the night before! lol)
*Note, I season my beans with smoked hog jawl...makes a good chili flavor as well.
Red Kidney beans
Onion
Chili powder
Red peppers (small amount)
Tomato sauce (3 cans or a jar)
Stewed tomatoes/or a jar of my salsa
salt

Now, I do vary according to what I have handy...but this is my basic. Mine would be classified as a medium, I get heartburn easy...you can add more Red Peppers, some Slap yo Mamma & it will get hot mighty fast. We do like our chili! (It was good too!)
We had that with the cornbread topped off with iced sweet tea.
My we had some bad weather that came thru, the ladies from the Doc. office called in a panic (they go to our church) said they saw a funnel cloud our direction! Could have told them that, we had nickel sized hail, Our B-B-Q lid, 2 lifevest, several buckets, an empty plastic barrel, and some sheet iron is a layin in the cottonfield across the road! We are fine, it surely did scare me though...last year was a traumatic experience for us. I don't think it touched the ground, at least not close to us...but I heard it.

We are having breakfast for Supper. Gotta use up some eggs and milk....and well, who doesn't just flat like biscuits, gravy, eggs, sausage, bacon & preserves anytime?
Will serve with cold sweet milk & juice.

I prefer butter over margarine...anyone else the same way?

It just has such a nicer flavor. I still 'churn a jar of butter', when I can. We use mason jars, I don't have a churn...and I still get a goodsized pat of butter.
