I'm still waiting to get any garden zukes. I had to BUY mine, never had to before in my life. Oddly, as I was coiling up the garden hoses to put away for winter, I finally saw a 3 inch long 1/2 inch wide zuke. Maybe it will grow large enough to eat before the first freeze.

Stupid global warming! NOT!

Is that what it is???? Get this...not ONE tomato has ripened from our garden!!!!! Not One!!!!!! And the gosh darned rabbits, or something, are taking bites out of every green one we have on the vine. Same with our bell peppers. This is also a first...we have never, never, had that problem before. Our bell peppers on the vine are teeny and never get to grow. The only thing we have lots of (thank goodness) are ground cherries...first time we've ever tried to grow those! And we have a few, very few, grape tomatoes, and hot peppers. Normally, we eat salsa from August through October, every day, it seems!

Been away for soo long, it's good to read about all the yummy food everyones been eating!

Yesterday, I spent the day makeing homemade lasagna sauce, Lasagna noodles; but I rolled and cut them into large squares, I will now do that always, so much easier than using the long noodles! Made a LARGE lasagna pan with four layers. DH says we'll be eating it for a month!

Tonight will be quiche with ham, broccoli, shrooms and cheese.

When making biscuits and gravy(which is often) I make baking powder biscuits and cut them with a can from salmon from sam's club it is about 4" in diameter. DH loves the large biscuits!

It's supposed to be 89 degrees today. So I'm thinking I might make a big salad and make open face sandwiches with ham, onion, tomato and muenster cheese under the broiler...that way I won't have to turn the oven on for very long.

cknmom your lasagna sounds good. My friend and I made 7 gallons of spaghetti sauce this weekend...we split the batch, she canned hers and I froze mine...I think some of mine is going to turn into lasagna at some point this week. Thank you for the great idea!

Redfeathers' split pea soup the other night sounded so good! Since she didn't send a bowl my way, I was forced to make my own tonight. Soup, cornbread and leftover apple crisp tonight.

Backyard Buddies, I love fruit-based desserts. Apple crisp and pumpkin custards are my fall favorites, strawberry shortcake in the spring.

Ok. I just finally managed to make biscuits lighter than a lead sinker. Now I have to learn to make cathead biscuits too?

So, did ya? I love the burger, mashed taters and corn combo! That's comfort food to me!

I'm there with ya! Other than chocolate (which is a vegetable, isn't it?

) fruit based desserts are my favorites as well. If you can enjoy your dessert and get one of your daily 5, why not?

We had grilled steak (got this huge package on sale for $11 and should get 12 - 16 servings out of it!), white and wild rice, and mixed veggies. Watch the rest of the week to see what I do with the rest of that steak!

If I end up hungry later, perhaps I'll have some leftover apple crisp and vanilla ice cream as well! For now, I'm stuffed!

After two and a half hours at the vet, I broke down and took the kids to Culver's. Butter Burgers, fries, frozen custard, onion rings. I do not want to know what my cholesterol level is right now...

Um.... there has to be more to it than that....

nope saving money, dh had a pb&j on the side

Oh dear, you sound like us. Ground beef was on sale last week for $2/lb and I bought about 15 lbs of it. I think I will be sick of it here soon. Meatloaf is cheap too, and I always use real potatoes instead of paying freakin $3 for a box of crap. Excuse my french. I actually have a chicken for tomorrow!

Ramadhan is over ...it's Eid ul Fitr now, for the next 3 days ...and I will be trying to enjoy the feast and festivities!!

A couple of weeks ago, I cut my hand pretty badly and ended up with several stitches ..and doc's orders not to get my hand wet.. so no cooking for me for a WEEK!
hmm.png

Now, my stitches are out and I caught my DH's virus ...can't even stand for more than 20 minutes or so without getting vertigo..

Eid came right on time!

I've been following along.. and you guys have been eating some yummy sounding meals! Those "cat head" biscuits remind me of my Nannie's biscuits everyday before sun up and heading out to the barn and fields for chores. I am sooo homesick...

Beef stroganoff tonight. DR appointment for my son yesterday, they are always at the end of the day when I should be home cooking! By the time we get home from town DH is pulling in the yard after 16 hours driving truck, and he's hungry! So we had pasta and alfredo sauce out of a jar ( I hate to admit to that!) However I did throw in some saueteed mushroom, onions and immitation crab.
