There are lots of other websites as well.........I am from a long line of Type 2 diabetics........

Follow what your nutritionist says and then allow yourself to learn, read, learn, read........LOL

With proper diet and medication it really is manageable....you can do it!

Hang in there. It's a little confusing and overwhelming at first, but geckomama's right. Follow your Doc's and Nutritionist's advice and the ADA website has lot's of great info. Knowledge is power.

Backyard Buddies, reading your menu has my mouth watering! I'm the only one in my house that likes polenta, so needless to say, I don't make it here.

I did take that cabbage and made colcannon. Ham slices and Irish Soda bread, gingerbread with fresh whipped cream (another splurge!

Oh boy, tonite another meal made on the grill. Grilled red sweet peppers and venzun burgers, along with freshly dug red spuds turning goody on the grill. Oh ya don't forget the toasted buns.

Did I mention the cold one while grilling that makes it all worth while?

debiraymond and Happyhen -

The chicken and polenta recipe was something a friend recommended. She saw it on Sandra Lee's program on the Food Network (See Happyhen, the place IS dangerous!) but she made it differently and I followed her advice. She didn't put the veggies in, and I'm choosing to serve mine on the side as well. She also used a prepared marinara, which I did as well. Sandra Lee's version sounds delicious as well, so I'll have to try it that way another time if this one goes over well. It sure smells good!

Here's the recipe as written:

We had 1/2 garlic lovers and 1/2 pepperoni pizza. We just came back from a short trip down south, and I wasn't cooking tonight. But reading everyone's dinners, I feel guilty.

Well, there's tomorrow, and this site has many ideas!

Split pea soup sounds wonderful, Redfeathers!

I think it's going to be pizza and the Presidential Debate, assuming it actually takes place tonight. I haven't had pizza in a while, so that sounds good.

That does sound good!! We are having a rainy day here. But it is not really cold... 78 at the moment. And it is due to be in the 90's today!!!

swampducks, I made zucchini bread today too!

Stuck 3 in the freezer and left the 4 th loaf on the counter. Odds, are it'll be gone before noon tomorrow. Finally got rid of the garden zucchini!

Spaghetti with homemade marinara sauce tonight, made with the last of the roma tomatoes from the garden. Tossed greens and garlic "toasties" (leftover hot dog buns, split, spread generously with butter and liberally sprinkled with garlic powder, then toasted under the broiler).

I'm still waiting to get any garden zukes. I had to BUY mine, never had to before in my life. Oddly, as I was coiling up the garden hoses to put away for winter, I finally saw a 3 inch long 1/2 inch wide zuke. Maybe it will grow large enough to eat before the first freeze.

Stupid global warming! NOT!
