Well since I've been home from my 10 hour shift (+ nearly two hours worth of travel) I have unloaded and put away oyster shell, white millet, layer crumbles and alfalfa, changed all the critter water and filled my pond back up and cleaned the coop and changed the pine shavings in it..sooooo now that my whine is over, I'll have alittle cheese, and a cucumber and everyone else can eat what's in the fridge from the weekend. Tired....

I'm pretty tired myself today, but I've been having a hankering for some chicken and dumplings today!!

Chicken isn't quite finished boiling, but I already have my dough rolled out and cut, ready!!!

Had tons to do at lunch today, so didn't even get to eat my lunch I brought to work. Ended up with an icky McDonald's burger. Usually, it will suffice, but there was WAYYYY too much mayo and ketchup today!!

Amytours, I love chicken n dumplings. I used to roll them but now I never do that anymore. I don't like to smell chicken boiling so I always bake mine in a corningware dish till falling off the bone and add water to the broth. I debone the chicken meat and then add after I am done with my dumplings. I take my broth and bring to a boil and have a package of flour tortilla cut in strips. I drop them in add a can of cream of chicken soup the meat and then turn off after about three to four min and let set on hot eye till done with lid on. Yummy dumplins. No mess or work

Last night my hubby made us some milkshakes after dinner - with a few raw eggs, YUMMY.

Once the kids had full cups, he added a dash of Bailey's Mint Chocolate, blended it up a little more and filled up MY glass!

OH Dinner was Jumbo Shrimp and pineapple with veggies.

I guess the French onion soup will have to wait another day. I don't have any beef broth in the pantry.

So, tonight I'm making salmon patties over angel hair pasta that has been seasoned with butter, garlic, fresh tomatoes and fresh basil from the garden.

A mixture of green beans and squash will round out the meal.

One thing that has been really fun this summer is that I'm recruiting the kids to help with dinner. They love my cooking and always have good ideas of things to try, but now that they're 13 and 10, it's high time they learned a few of the skills themselves! They're doing great!

DS requested potatoes O'Brian a couple days ago (ask and you shall receive....eventually!)

I brown some spicy breakfast sausage, add par- boiled diced potatoes, onions and bell peppers and cook until done. Top with cheddar cheese, cover and let cheese melt. Fried eggs are optional.

Backyard Buddies, good job with including the kids in meal making!

Learning to cook for themselves makes them more interested in nutrition and in trying new foods and recipes (and sometimes they even free us up from the chore!).

sweet tea
lemonade
and Reeces cup cheese cake

* we love macaroni...and since it's so hot I look for cooler suppers.

Everyone's supper sounds good!! Tired again, and just came inside a few mintues ago from shucking about 50 ears of corn someone at work sent home with me! I wish you could have seen my chickens "helping" me!!They waited impatiently for the big fat worms that were in the tops of most of the ears and them the whole ears that I shared with them they picked the kernels clean!! They are absolutely stuffed with disgustingly huge crops that will mean enormous piles of chicken poop under their roosts in the morning, lol!! but happy from their corn and worm treat!! I will wait and blanch the corn tomorrow night and freeze most of it..too tired now..home alone anyway so supper is a vodka cooler and a leftover hamburger patty..no I do not eat well when home alone, lol!!!

Scrambled Egg.. your supper sounds pretty darn appetizing to me! Even the cooler!
