Hey! How about an Alabama chickenstock!?

Hi,

I'll put my two cents in -- I don't know if my family and I can make it, but it sounds like fun. May I have a flyer sent to me, please?

I'm trying to think how far it is up there to Boaz. I'll do what I can to talk my family members, scatterbrains that they are

into coming along.

BTW, may I ask exactly what a chickenstock is? Is it basically a hen party where hens go home with new owners?

Sorry -- I just couldn't resist.

I have a wish list nine miles long, and only have a few chickens right now. But I would like to find some SL Wyandottes and some cochin bantams for my mom. Anyone have any button quail?
They look so cute.

For the record, I live in Lamar County on the AL/MS state line. I saw a few posts from Hamilton and Caledonia. I don't get to Hamilton that often, but I pass right by Caledonia on the way to Columbus. Hope ya'll missed the nasty weather this time around.

Later!

I am a newby and I would love to make the trip. we have been camping and doing a lot of outdoor activites and that would be an excuse to get closer to the caverns in North Alabama so I could make a very good weekend of it.

I have friends in north Alabama (of course, to us in Mobile, anything above Montgomery is way north!) and want to visit DeSoto Caverns this summer, so I might be interested in coming to the event as well. Will there be chickens for sale, or is it only a social event? I'd love to find a source for a couple of cuckoo moran pullets in case I miss them at the feed mill and a few different color cochin bantam pullets. Are most people attending serious breeders with show stock or just back yard hobbyists? My little handful of birds are nothing like show quality, I'm sure!

Well I will tell you what i probably be bringing... It will be some RIR roos and some BR roos
I would like to do some trading with them... I am looking for a white silkie... just one... and a couple of SLW pullets. if anyone is interested in my roos that are going let me know.... they will be about 15 weeks at the time of the chicken stock.... also everyone if you gonna bring some birds to trade or sell let us know what we have to look forward to...

If you have never been to the caverns it is well worth the trip I have been many times in my life and always look forward to going again....

That's a great idea noodles! If anyone would like to post what they will be bringing/would like to acquire, we could post it here. Me?....I want 1 silkie roo and 3-4 silkie hens. I had a silkie pair and now we have one hen. We lost our roo.

OK, I am marking June 29 on my calendar. Is that still the date? Is there a list of what exactly is planned for the event? I plan to be there unless I am on vacation in CA during that time!
