hey how come my chickens won't lay eggs

I found that heavier breeds start laying eggs later. What breed are your chickens? My Buff Orpington was a whole month later than the Red Sexlink or Americana.

My oldest EE has been laying big beautiful eggs for two weeks now. Unfortunately, i was only able to eat the first three before my vet put her on antibiotics. So now can't eat the eggs for probably another two weeks. Today she layed an extra large, probably a double yoker. *sigh*

yoshi xii - i was just funning with you about the crowing. Would love to see pics of your hens, though.

Well.....i have big girls and EE's and mine are 24 weeks tomorrow with no eggs. I will say this......I do believe i will get my first egg in the morning. I have 2...a buff Orp and a Blk Aust. That were very vocal and 3 or 4 that are very into the nest boxes. I suspect the stress of the Rooster was a factor in mine being behind. I think he was ready to mate and they were not.......they were so not into him. With him gone, my flock has been so peaceful. Tonight there were 2 letting me pet them

Thats new!!! I have an EE that let me catch her easily and pick her up, hold and pet her. So alot of changes around here today. One BO kept doing a little squat thing, like she was going to poop but nothing came out

I think she got something brewing. Tune in tomorrow and see if i get to put up a first egg post

Yoshi...how bout them pictures????? Also is your rooster bothering your girls? I wonder if the stress of the molt and/or the roo are keeping yours from giving you eggs.

i don't know if he's trying to mate with them or attack them

he's perfectly fine with the other one which he tends to chase around
