my mottleds are reading your hens' secret play book. They are on complete strike and have been for nonths!!! It is contagious too. Now my broody pen only has one or two hens laying right now, and only two of them are broody... The BBS marans and my olive egger and Tipsy and her sister are all that's laying.

Edit to add: On a good note, my CBM pullets that hatched last fall, same time as my F1 cochins, are also getting red combs and I have seen them seriously checking out one of the nest boxes and spending time in there getting comfortable. Hope that means something. Wouldn't I LOVE to be getting ten nice, dark CBM eggs a day... (Hey, it's my fantasy, I can specify dark, can't I??

Mike,

Thanks so much for the info. I'm so pleased that 6 are looking good. My hatch here rate has been super but shipping does take its toll. Keep us all posted on your progress.

Hey BYC!

Well, they're here! Eight beautiful fuzzy bottoms!

The first photo is the whole shebang and then followed by two groups of four. They are so lively! They won't stay still for a second. We took so many shots to get them all facing in one direction.

We are truly blessed! And we hope to see the progress of all those beautiful relatives to these via BYC. Please keep the photos coming and we'll keep you all abreast of their development.

Thanks Lynne!

Well, the babies are about six weeks now. The boys comb and wattles aren't getting bigger or redder, I am still hoping she is a very masculine girl

Your babies are precious!!!! I'm so happy for you.

My thrill yesterday was to come home & find one of my F3 pullets had laid the first egg!!! YES!!! Seven more pullets to follow & then I'll be hatching all summer.

Please let me know how your babies progress in type & color. Thank you again for having the confidence to order from me.

HOORAY!!!!

My Millies are finally fertile again! I’ve only been getting 1 and 2 fertile eggs out of 20-30 eggs set each week until now. 15 out of 19 that I set last week are finally fertile again. I was getting worried. Hopefully it will last for a few months and I can hatch out a 4 or 5 dozen. If I can keep getting this good of fertility I might consider selling some of my eggs later if anyone is interested.

Anyway happy early spring!
