In WV, we have this thing call Freakin Cold Winters!! and that helps narrow them down really quick. Im not cracking frozen waterers for just anyone.

If you think you're cold in the winter, you want to try Minnesota. Thought I was dying of cold last winter it got down below -30C; the snow didn't melt for 5 months, & the cock's combs freeze off despite the supposed heating. (And in the summer there are mozzies like birds.

I added two more projects to the mille progress page https://www.backyardchickens.com/web/viewblog.php?id=10091-mille-fleur-cochin-progress I'd like to get started on the down color analogy. So, I'll be going back through all these pages cause I remember some awesome chick pics!! I'll post the ones I'd like to use and count on all of you fine folks to get me some juvenile and adult pics of them

Josh, I saw you have some nice pics of your different generations on your blog. May I use them to create a story for you. I would just need pics of your initial breeders. You have a pic of your first roo on there but it isn't the greatest... do you have another one of him somewhere like photobucket or on here.

Mother nature works mysteriously--sadly my blue mottled hen, Angel, died tonight..sudden...I didn't even see her droopy. They all waited at the coop door for me when I got home from work but when I put them away at 8pm the roo was heckling her as she wasn't moving well. all the sudden she was gone:( I had dusted the hens with DE last night, could that possibly be detrimental? I had done our layer birds a week ago with no casualties.

she sure had a sweet nature, had come from Maggie Alvears stock. Didn't think I'd get quite so attached, she had a "story" with us. Hatched on Thanksgiving and stayed in the basement alot of the winter with 4 other chicks so I had alot of time with them. She'd jump into your lap or shoulder, whatever was convenient.
As nature took her away, nature also gave...4 chicks hatched. One maybe hers as it looks medium blue.

I am sorry about your angel. Sad to hear of her loss, I notice here too that sometimes although we have a larger flock, there are the special birds that stand out because they are extraordinary in some way...it is hard to lose them for any reason...
You seem to take excellent care of your birds, and to really care about them, these things happen. Mother nature does work mysteriously, you never know, maybe the little chick will look just like her mom?

So sorry for your loss. I lost my best white Silkie roo a couple of days ago. Same situation-wasn't sick at all. I just went into the coop in the morning, and he was laying there. They had knocked over their waterer the aftenoon before, so were without water for awhile. Only thing I can see is that I should have made sure he got a drink when I refilled it. I really feel bad about that. And, yes, it's always harder when it's our special ones. Hopefully you'll get a baby just like her.

So Erin, I started going through some pictures. I posted some of them awhile back and I'm not sure where to post them for your project.
This is Lucky the Roo. He doesn’t appear to have very good type, he hasn’t filled out all the way yet and a feather eating hen gnawed off his tail but… his color development is chronological so here are some pictures of him from a chick to 6 months. He is from my 2nd generation birds.

Thanks, Josh. I will definitely use him. I looked over your blogspot and may take pics from there as well for your story. I've been going back over these threads to get pics as well. What I need from you is pics of your initial breeders, and pics of any generations after that. Include a brief story about what succcess or unhappiness you've had with your progress. Thanks so much. I just finished Patty's story so I think the page is coming along nicely. Please tell me if you can see Amazon's pics. Some see them and some don't so we may have to do something different there.
