My Mille Fleur Cochin Roosters, Starbuck and Comet, and 2 of my Buff/Mille Fluer Cochin Hens were killed by my own 9 yr. old dog last Friday when I forgot to chain the gate to the pet area. 20 birds were lost in all, and I no longer have June, my dog, either. It was my responsibility, and I let my birds down.

I want to move forward with the Mille Fleur Cochin Project in the Future - I had not put these guys in their more secure setting yet, they were still free ranging in the "pet area" when this happened....we are still working on their new coop area with a 10x20 carport/chicken housing set up...and now it's too late.

I still have 2 Light Mille Fleur Hens from the lines I already had (with Mr. Frizzy) and the 3 chicks I hatched from Lynne............

I cannot thank you enough Lynne - your chicks are what keep my hopes up! Thank you, Thank you!!

The Mille Fleur Cochins are so cute, and they are just getting prettier by the day, from what I see! Good work, and everyones dedication is paying off! Take care....

Tina I am so sorry to hear of your loss.

I think it is even harder when the preditor is your own. I think that the 3 millies that hatched from your eggs turned out to be roos. Thier combs are getting pretty red but they are beautiful. I think the millie/cochin that hatched with them is a she

.

Lynne, you have to be the most kind-hearted person I know. You are just awesome!

Tina, I'm so sorry to hear this. I know it is just devastating especially when the culprit is your own pet. Take Lynne up on her offer. Hopefully you can get some more babies.

Hippichick, how'd your hatch go? All my milles hatched and I wound up with 2 oegb... so 6 altogether. I have three yellowy with reddish on the back and 1 chipmunk. They are sleeping under mommy and I will have a photo shoot tomorrow.

He's even more beautiful now. That was a month or so ago. I think the darker ones should be culled because they will keep passing on the dark look and get you farther from the nice red of his brother and the lovely buff of that other pullet. It will be hard because he is turning out to be just striking but... these are the decisions we have to make if we want to make serious progress.
