Hey Patty, Gator, Mike and other mille cochin enthusiasts

Cruzin T, they are adorable!!! and, yes, my four ...or five month or..?? something juveniles have great foot feathering and the little hens' combs are bright red! I cannot believe it. It took my columbians til almost 9 months to lay. My little roos are doing their thing as well so I might have some eggies here soon.

Alpine Farm, those pics are spectacular. My favorite is the first one. It looks like some magical valley... just gorgeous. I love the birch tree shots looking up too. WOW, Thank you.

A batch of hatchlings arrived in the last 2 days. The pale fluffy one dead center is Rosemary's MFC from Alpine farm. https://www.backyardchickens.com/forum/uploads/17059_061809_chicks.jpg My MFC is bottom right next to the blue silkie. It has the similar coloring as Lynne's chicks, a faint blue stripe and buff.
Just this morning another of Rosemary's has zipped out of the shell! In all a group of 18 cochins & silkies have hatched (thanks to my silkie/cochin hen Ruby doing broody duty on 7 others)

BYC has some of the kindest folks I've ever come across...Some of the sweetest gestures ever have happened since I lost most of my own Mille Cochins to my dog June (my fault for keeping her around for 9 years and leaving the gate unchained)....Now here at tfpets place, to join the three little ones I had hatched from Lynnes eggs earlier this Spring, we have 12 eggs safely nestled under broodies in the coop, and a real treat as well - from Tate - TWO little pairs of Mille cochins arrived in mail yesterday!

Thank you to Lynne and Tate, and to all of my BYC friends, who understand what it means to care about and for chickens....You are all wonderful!!

Anyone interested in buying a quad from me of Buffs carrying the Mille Fleur from JOSHBANTAMS?

I'm selling out of chickens and had actually thought about only keeping this quad and selling everything else. However, I'm burned out of chickens right at the moment so I'm selling everything. The Buffs have been hatching chicks in the bator like crazy for me. However I haven't had a chance to hatch pure chicks from this rooster yet. The rooster is younger than the hens so I use to keep the hens with a Mottled rooster and hatched from that cross. I got a lot of really cool blue colored chicks and some Buffs already looking mille. They were broody after that and are just beginning to lay again now.

I also have a trio of Mottled Cochins with the two hens from Judy Gantt that I'm also selling.

All hens are laying.

I think I may run an auction for both of these birds if you think you'd be interested just let me know.

I have to get photos of the Buffs, haven't taken any of them in ages...

Sweet Gum, those are some beautiful cochins. I pmed someone I think may be interested. Im sure you'll be able to unload them. I hope whatever has burned you out isn't too serious ...just sick of cleaning waterers

I can't do anything half way and when I overdue things I get burned out. I've learned to manage my goats really well but with chickens, for some reason I can't put a number up that I'll stick with. Matter of fact, I've never actually thought about how many we have at any one time or how many is too many. LOL We've already cut back dramatically. We have a pair of spangled OEs, ducks (4 Mallards, a Black Runner and 3 Blue Swedish) the trio of Mottled Cochins, quad of Buff/Mille Cochins and lots and lots of chicks. Some Blue/Black Cochins, Mottled Cochins, Blues & Buff/Milles from the quad and even some Blue Mottled.

Our plan is to go tomorrow to the flea market and unload birds. That's the fastest and most efficient way to do it.

I may even be selling my incubators soon too. I'm afraid to do that and then later want to hatch again and have to buy all over again. LOL
