Glad to meet you, fellow New Englander, and welcome to BYC.

I free ranged my ladies for a little while, but hawk attacks have led me to limit the girls' outings to the times when I can (and am willing) to be out with them to help watch and fend off attacks. So not spending time out in sub-freezing weather (and the chickens turn out not to like it much, either). I am hoping the crows will help drive off hawks as they start their nesting season. I have seen them chase one, and hope they will be more and more diligent as egg season progresses.

Welcome. We all like to talk chicken here so you have come to the right place. I get it about predators. We are netting our entire back yard this week because I am exhausted from worrying about it. I will post pictures when we are done.
