I'm Tracey.
I'm from Australia, but have been happily following along this group ever since I bought a hobby farm 12 months ago, after losing my job in the city. We came here with 4 cats and three dogs.
Since moving here we have bought 4 goats, which we bottle raised. We also have 2 alpacas to guard the herd.
I plan on breeding and raising a Toggenburg farm, possibly as a farm stay. Our home is a 130 year old Australian farm house, with loads of rustic charm. We sit on 300 acres with what we think is the best view in town!
And very recently (3 weeks ago) bought our first chickens.
We have 1 Silver laced Wyandotte, 2 light Sussex (one of which is a handsome rooster...or he will be once he has all his gorgeous plumage). We also have 1 Buff Sussex and 1 Coronation Sussex.
We did originally have 2 beautiful Lavender Sussex, but they turned out to be roosters (oh yes, I'm learning a lot about identifying a
from a hen!)
We are almost up to our first dozen eggs. The whole family have been waiting patiently for us all to be able to each sample two of our own hen eggs
I didn't know the first thing about chickens, and have been watching and learning from others. I am eager to learn from everyone here on this group. You all seem so experienced and knowledgeable.
