Hi y'all, I'm Laura and my family and I (husband and 1 1/2year old) bought 10 acres in South Central PA last year. There's lots of work to do on the property but this year or next we'd like to get some chickens(or maybe guinea fowl). The original plan was to wait until next year but this is likely going to be a bad year for ticks and other bugs so we may move up the schedule. We don't have a coop or anything yet and I've just started doing some research into what might be best. I'll need to figure out how many birds we should get and of what type. As for current pets we have 2 indoor house cats(12 years old) and a 2 1/2 year old Newfoundland. Anyone in my area with recommendations for birds who do well on our climate or particular things to consider for a flock in PA let me know! Thanks!
