HI All, new member checking in

Hello everyone,

Pleased to be a part of this forum. My name is Rick and I live in Co. Donegal in Ireland. I am new to keeping chickens, so I look forward to learning lots of new things from you all.
I have started small with eight hens ( I hope ! ) and a rooster. My main interest is in eggs for the family, and for enjoying my birds as pets with my two children.
I would like to try to raise some chicks. Not in an incubator but by allowing my birds to do it as a natural thing.
I am looking forward to your help and advice, and I apologize in advance if I ask any stupid greenhorn questions. I have much to learn and can't wait to get chatting to you's all.

And next, there is no such thing as a stupid question.

I raised chicks as a kid and I've been back at it for almost two years now and I still have questions.

Congrats. It will be a wonderful learning experience for both you and your children.
