Hi everyone, I'm Mike. My fiance and I are just starting our first chicken flock, and of course I came here with questions that I'll post separately. Here's some info about us!

(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
- sort of, I worked on a farm for 10 years when I was a kid, and we had dozens of free-range chickens among other farm animals.

(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
- 6

(3) What breeds do you have?
Black Australorp
Light Brahma
New hampshire red
Olive egger
Rhode Island blue
Blue laced red wyandotte

(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?
- I always said chickens were the funniest animal on the farm

(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
- movies & gaming, snowboarding, working on our house, etc

(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
- we're on the east-end of Long Island NY. We have a dog, 3 indoor cats, and 3 stray cats that we care for outside. We expect the strays will keep the rodents away from the chickens

(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community?
- found on google because I have some questions

We haven't seen a mouse or a rat since the two stray cats have been fed out here.
In addition I used an old small coop as a shelter from the rain and cold for them, placed right next to the coop.
My chicken gets along fine with them. So it's a win win here

- found on google because I have some questions

Needing answers was exactly how I found BYC. So just had to join and made good friends here which was another bonus
