Okay, DON'T send me to the feed store to pick up chicks!! I was supposed to get THREE Buff Orpingtons.

I came home with 3 Buffs and 3 Americaunas......

They were just too cuuuuuuute to pass up!!

And they're just two days old!

My Giants are HUUUUUGE compared to these girls!! And they're only two weeks old!

I got 3 of each breed just incase any happened to be roos, we would still have hens. It was after we already picked these guys out that we found out this feed store buys so that they're 99% sure they're hens. Oh. We're gonna have a lot of hens!

Hope the neighbors like fresh eggs!

Sooooo cute! Which feed store did you use?

This spring, out of 10 sexed chicks of all different breeds, we got one cockerel, which was an EE (hatchery "Ameraucana"). Luckily, we got 2 EEs, and I'm still waiting for blue eggs! These were from Western Farm Center in Santa Rosa.

Yup! Western Farm! I'm not from here and that's where my husband had gone to get stuff from there for the cat and we learned they had chicks while we were figuring out if we wanted to dive in to raising chickens. Today I was in the isle with all the chicken feed, and it has all the bee keeping stuff at the other end of the shelves. My husband got all excited, "OOH! Beehives!!" NO! Not right now! When we've got this chicken thing down, and we move to our long term, if not permanent, house we can start thinking about bees. Not before!

Been going to Western Farm since my family moved here in 1970. The building they use as a warehouse now was the site of the original store. Always a dangerous undertaking, entering that store, especially with kids in tow. Sooo many temptations.

Got mine at the beginning of March, so they are about 4 1/2 months now.

Your Buff Orps will look like Miss Peach. Monkey was similar to your dk brown chipmunk baby Easter Egger.
