Hello everyone! I am 100% a newbie to raising chickens. My husband and I adopted three chicks from our local feed store for our two boys a week ago today. They are about two weeks old now and I believe they are Rhode Island Reds. I have always wanted to raise chickens since I was a child and never had the opportunity. I thought it would be a great opportunity to give to my boys. My goal in doing this is to give my boys a learning opportunity, a sense of responsibility, and also the reward that comes from it; DELICIOUS EGGS! :) Thank you in advance to all of you for helping me to make this experience the best I can for my sons!

Welcome to BYC!

And congrats on the new chicks! Oh, nothing beats those homegrown chicken eggs. And right from the under the hen as well! And when you find that first egg, it is THE most EGG-citing time in chicken keeping! I still enjoy finding those treasures in my nest boxes after all these years.

Enjoy all your poultry adventures and welcome to our flock!
