About a 12 oz cup.?
You have 4 real heat lamps?:eek::eek:

I'm in Texas and have an open air coop and don't add added heat. Four seems extreme to me.

The video above shows how to upload photos.
Use the blue Upload a File button below this box.
the coop is very ventilated, even wired in 24v fans. Texas is cold here in the desert at night

Hello there and welcome to BYC! :frow

Yes it never hurts to add more room. Keeps them from turning on each other.

Heat will hurt them in the long run. Unless they are very young, very old or sick, it is not advised to add heat. They are designed to adapt to all temperature changes and can tolerate temps below zero if they have good shelter. If you get them used to too much heat they will never be able to leave the coop until spring. Respiratory ailments are more likely to develop in heated crowded enclosed conditions. Heat and cold temps can create moisture so make sure you have plenty of ventilation in your eaves, somewhere around 1 sq ft of vent space per bird.

Good luck and welcome to our roost! :)

Hi
We have 11, Rhode Island Red and golden sexlink. Coop @ 6’x8’x8’..run @ 4’-8’x25’ and covered by chain link. Should I expand run for next season? Avg 8 eggs/day, even now-(4 12oz scratch and 4 12oz layer feed, morning and afternoon, store bought suet @ 4-5/wk, appropriate scraps). Change anything for the colder side of winter???
Started with 12 chicks-6each, everyone told me 1/2 wouldn’t survive. Only loss was a pecking problem, found her after work with 2” exposed meat on back, built a new pin adjacent, nursed 36 hrs to explorativeness and the damn dog forced in my overnight contraption.

Thank y’all for all the response and support, lamps will be decreasing to zero with the eye and our wind, pretty nasty, can I share pics and how?
