We got a deal on some 5-7 week Olds at the local feed shop. One new Hampshire and 5 I think are barred rocks. The employee said they were ordered as black astrolorps but have very dark barring and black in front of legs. I'm hoping they aren't black sex links that they sell at the shop as well. These were bought for my 6 girls to take care of, I owned many chickens when I was a teenager, so we bit the Bullet and bought them.

Do you have a coop already, or running ragged trying to put one together.
The barred rocks do not look like Black Sexlinks.

I have an enclosed garden that's fallow at the moment and a temporary coop built from tin and cardboard. I will build a permanent one in a couple of weeks.

If you haven't yet, please make your chickens a FIRST AID KIT for any issues that would arise.
It's definitely better to have it and not need it rather than need it and not have it.

Also, make sure your coop(s) have a proper amount of VENTILATION. Your chickens will absolutely thank you for it!
