Hi BYC, please help identify breed and gender of Jackie.

Cute little fella!
Color looks mottled buff, but I’m not sure what breed either.
But he looks to be a bantam, which means his crow shouldn’t be as loud as large breeds. And being alone, he probably won’t crow very often (unless other roosters are within ear-shot). If you enjoy having him around as a pet, you might try keeping him and see if anyone complains. I’m not condoning this, if it’s actually illegal for you. Just saying it may be worth checking into further, before rehoming him.
I will warn though, if you keep him, you will soon want to get him a girlfriend, then they make more, and more. Chicken math is real.

Thanks for taking the time to write this. You’re right, I will wait for a while to watch his developments. We have grown quite fond of him. I did some research and it seems that if roos live in an environment without competition, they won’t crow as much. I’m hopeful that he’ll be content to be the only roo in the village as there are currently no chickens in the area
