Hello :)
I live in northeastern British Columbia on a 5 acre property about 10 km out of town. I started out with 7 partridge Silkies but unfortunately lost 6 of them to a fox (or so we think) yesterday so I'm down to one now. I'll hopefully be getting some more buddies for him shortly, poor guy is pretty traumatised.
I look forward to learning as much as I can about having chickens :).

Hello there and welcome to BYC!

Oh, that is awful!! I hope you can get some friends for your lone bird. Definitely stop by our learning center. There is a section on protecting your flock from predators there.

Good luck and we do welcome you to our flock!

Hello :frow and Welcome To BYC! Sorry for your loss, hope you are able to find more birds.

Beef up your coop and run security first or you'll just be paying for more fox fodder. When predators get an easy meal they keep coming back until nothing is left. Are you able to use firearms, to kill attacking predators, where you live? That way you will know the same ones are coming back.
