We have recently purchased 3 light sussex hens (approx 7-8 weeks old at the moment) and I am no expert but I think one of them is a rooster. I was wondering what your opinions were based on the picture. The one at the top is the hen and the one with the darker more defined tail feathers right next to it is the one i suspect is a rooster. He also has yellow legs and the other two have white legs and his comb is darker too. Thoughts?

Welcome to Backyard chickens. It's really impossible to comment on gender from that photo. Cannot see comb. Also need to see birds standing naturally in profile view.
It's pretty early to be deciding genders. You could post photos at "what breed or gender is this."

Hi and welcome to BYC - thanks for joining us. I'm no expert on the breed characteristics, but the comb and wattle development should give you an idea. As D/Diva suggests - maybe posting a photo showing the head of both birds, for comparison, on the gender / breed forum would be a good idea. The link is

If you wish, there's an active Aussie thread that you may like to join - https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/598568/australia-six-states-and-that-funny-little-island

Best wishes

Sorry, I can't tell either so I suggest you try the forum @CTKen has given you the link to.

Good luck, I hope the gender results are what you wish for!
