The vaccine doesn't cover all strains. You should not mix vaccinated and non vaccinated birds. The vaccine should prevent it, but sometimes it doesn't.

Dang, not what I wanted to hear. I went to the link that had info on Mareks, read ... and then couldn’t find my way back here. Not sure why I have so much trouble navigating this website.

Ok, so it is still prudent to buy vaccinated chicks ... right? I have no chickens presently so I’d be starting with a clean slate. Does that give me an edge? As long as I never add unvaccinated chicks?
