Hello and welcome to the forums!! Nice to meet you... I hope that we can hear from you more. Please share your ideas in our forums.. have a great day!!Some things about me:
I live in Portland, OR
I love chickens and want to learn more
I will be getting a flock of three in the spring (unless problems arise)
How I fell in love with chickens:
My neighbors had a flock of ten Rhode Island Red hens. One day, I ran into my neighbor, and we chatted about yard work and problems with weeds in our yards. She told me “I just give mine to the chickens once I’ve pulled them!” We talked a little more, and she said, “You know, feel free to feed your weeds to our chickens. They love them!” I said, ”Ok, thanks for letting me know!”
I did feed weeds to the chickens. And them I started to visit them even when I didn’t have weeds...and then I finally started bringing them things other than weeds, like cracked corn. My neighbors watched me fall for their chickens with great amusement.
My neighbors ended up having to give their chickens away, and I was heartbroken, but the effect they had on me stayed.
Oh I certainly did catch the chicken bug! And I’m glad I did!Great story! Sounds like you've caught the chicken bug! The chicken bug caught me last fall when two of the neighbor's roosters adopted my yard. Now I'm hooked!
