It is a very good thing that you keep your flock secure from wandering dogs. They seem to be the number one killer of chickens.
Could you post a picture of your birds? I'm not familiar with that breed.

I had 2 rabbits killed when I was a child so I'm very wary that dogs can even get into hutches lucky our property is very secure. Added a few pics for you! Maybe they go by a different name outside of NZ.
