In the Brooder
(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
I just got chickens at the beginning of quarantine! My girlfriend had chickens since she was little, but I used to be a city slicker. But since I moved out to a rural area I figured it would be a fun and new experience!
(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
Just four for now, but once I move out I plan to get more
(3) What breeds do you have?
I have an australorp, araucana, and a bovan brown
(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?
Seeing them grow is great, and the new and interesting challenges they pose every day.
(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
I love singing, hiking, and hunting/fishing. I also volunteer with my local fire company as a junior firefighter and EMT.
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
Well to start with my family, most of them live up in Northwest Ohio. I moved to Central Pennsylvania about 4 years ago with my mother for her work and I've been here since. I used to have more animals, but for now I just have Luna who is a very fluffy black and white cat who is only slightly insane. Currently I'm working at Sheetz, if you're not from around here think of a joint gas station and fast food place. Hoping to start work as an EMT full-time once I graduate.
(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community?
I found out about BYC thanks to my lovely girlfriend who convinced me to get chicks in the first place. Finally decided to join after I saw how excited she was interacting with the community!
