It's nice to meet everyone!

I was wondering if anyone has a favorite breed of chicken, or bird?

Nice to meet you, Michael. We're out in the hill country. There is no place we would rather be! I'll post some pics of the coop and run when everything is complete and looking nice.

My favorite kind of chicken is kind of a tie as well. I love Black Sex Links. They are hardy, friendly, egg laying machines, and if I had to pick just one kind of hen to keep, it would be them because of their sheer egg production. I have had dozens of different breeds and kinds (sex links are hybrids as opposed to a breed) over the past 50 years, but the Black Sex Links have consistently been my best layers. The other ones I love about the same are Black Australorps. They are my favorite standard breed as they are extremely hardy (in both cold and heat), and very calm and gentle birds. They cannot quite match my Black Sex Links for sheer egg production, but they are the best layers of the standard, brown egg laying breeds.
