Hi friends!

:welcome

Hello, I'd love to hear more about some of the birds you've worked with. Make yourself at home here and thanks for joining us!

Awe thank you for your interest! My journey really began when I took in Ursula - an emu chick with a compound fracture of her leg. Since her, I’ve also taken in and rehabbed mostly ducks, turkeys, chickens and ducks with leg injuries primarily. I’m fortunate enough to have relationships with some local vets that help advise me - but there have been some obscure issues I’ve come across that a community like this I really feel may have the experience to collectively be able to offer better guidance sometimes! Like right now - I have a special needs Muscovy with a non functional leg that does not have an oil gland! I’m going to post a separate thread for that one! But again thank you for being so welcoming and your interest! ❤️❤️❤️❤️

Fantastic! That must have been a special experience working with Ursula (cute photo). Looking forward to future stories and pictures, thanks for sharing!

They’re all so special! My little Pepper (who had badly splayed legs) with my girl Skye (who I lost last year). Ok - I won’t inundate you with more pics and stories today! But thank you again and look forward to getting to know you and the rest of the community!

I love your idea about starting a sanctuary for special-needs animals!! I run a chicken sanctuary, where I adopt elderly or disabled chickens. I can't wait to hear more about this and hear your stories about your special-needs animals!! Have a great weekend and welcome to BYC!
Oh that’s amazing! I’d love to hear more! Where are you based out of? Do you just take in chickens specifically or do you also make some exceptions for ducks or other birds?
