Hello eveyone, I'm Karen from Cannons Creek - a coastal village in Victoria about 45 mins from Melbourne. Whilst not new to all things avian (we have large parrots) I am new to the world of chickens. Alasdair and I rescued 4 ex battery hens (Isa Browns) about a month ago and it has been fantastic watching them find their feet so to speak. They are very scruffy looking but getting more feathers and confidence every day. My vege beds are suffering from their enthusiasm so I'm researching fencing options and we are also looking to build a fantastic coop ( we bough a cheep one to get us going).
Looking forward to reading all the info here and getting to know everyone.

Poor "Red butt" sounds like they have been pecking at her and giving her a hard time. I don't know if you have the product "BLue Kote," in Australia. You could use that on her sore butt and it won't be the color red that attracts mean chickens.


We have many aussies on here, you could meet them at "Australia, six states and one funny little island."
