Hello everyone! Afters years of lurking and reading so many helpful, funny and touching stories, I'm now so happy to be an actual member of this beautiful community. I live in Holland, out in a forest, with my tiny flock (2 hens and a tiny rooster), and am building a brand new chicken paradise to expand my flock in the spring. I've started living with chickens only a few years ago, and am so happy (although sometimes quite frustrated when they uproot my veggies in the 5 seconds i wasn't watching them). Thanks for having me as a member!

Hi! :frow Welcome to BYC! Would love to see pictures of "chicken paradise". I think my chickens need that too! What kind of chickens do you have? We live in a forest too, and find growing veggies is hard enough without the chickens digging them up.

:frow Hi, welcome to the chicken paradise of the Internet! I am glad you have found this site to be so helpful. Now that you’re family, you can tell your own stories to touch the lives of others. :hugs
I hope you find your way to your local thread, and expand your flock to 596 by next year. :thumbsup

:welcome

Hi, it's nice to have you here! Chickens love fresh grown vegetables as you've found out. Once mine wiped out a big area of kale before I got poultry fencing to keep them out of the garden...amazing how fast they can do that.

Thanks for joining us, make yourself at home!

Welcome to the group! I spent a long time lurking before I joined, too. It's so much more fun to get to participate.

I also started out with just a few chickens -- four hens. Now, I have two geese, nine ducks, one rooster and 18 hens. I am looking forward to hearing about the paradise you're building and how many chickens you end up having.

By the way, is your tiny rooster just a young one or a small breed?

Hi Valerie, thanks for your kind reply! My flock has had a rough year, with predators taken 3 of my girls. Now I've only got two hens (new hamsphire and rhode island red) and a tiny sebright rooster left. When spring comes i will have a new save henhouse and coop! Right now i'm doing preparations: I've demolished a small leaky shed, and am now clearing the ground space so I can lay a foundation. When there is something above i ground i'm happy to share pictures! What kind of chickens do you keep?
