Hi Everyone, I have found so much brilliant info on here, that I decided to join. I am living in south east Ireland and am new to keeping chickens. We have 4 laying hens, around 5months old. A light sussex, a maran, a rhodes island red cross, a Plymouth rock cross and a beautifully mannered, stunning, 1year old buff brahma rooster 🐓 We also have 2 cats and 2 dogs, all of which have been very well behaved to date. We do have a 6ft galvanised metal fence around the coop, we back onto a forest, so foxes and pine martens are a big worry! Excited to see what I can learn on here, my hens are laying the eggs are perfect but tiny! (They only arrived 4 days ago)

Thanks so much, he is a great dane and a big softy! So happy to be here, I am goggling everything because of my lack of experience but have found this the best resource by far!
I agree! Have you seen our Learning Center yet? On the left side is an index of all the topics covered.

Yes, I have actually looked at this and will no doubt look at it MANY more times! Very useful info. Can I ask, do you think holding the hens and rooster is important, I don't want to upset them but would like to be able to handle them if there was ever an injury or treatment needed?
