Hi everyone,

After a couple years of indecision, I made up my mind it was time to "do the chicken thing" and get some chicks. So we now have 4 Columbian Wyandotte little girl chicks ( I hope)

This site has been great for me to browse through. Most of my questions were answered right here. Thanks to all of you for sharing your experiences and expertise. It really helps us newbies.

Our chicks came from a local feed store via McMurray hatchery. They are almost 2 weeks old and seem to be thriving. They are friendly and hop on my hand when I reach into the brooder. I think I'm hooked. LOL

Nice to be here

Welcome to BYC!

So glad you could join our great community! This is the place to be when you own poultry.

Good luck with your new babies and welcome to our flock!

Thanks for the warm welcome, I know I am going to enjoy the forum. Today, I am in the process of cleaning out our 12 x 12 gazebo, that DH has decided we can modify for the chickens to use, as well as their coop/run. Yay for him, he is onboard with the chicken thing! LOL

The canvas top is gone (wind and sun did it in and that was the second top we put on it) and will be replaced with chicken wire outside and some shade cloth attached inside to provide some nice shade this summer. I'll send pics when it's all set up with the coop.
