Yeah, they can be a handful. But, like with everything else, I went/am going totally overboard. I've started to fill the incubator again, lol. I'm lucky (imo) though, I farm for a living so I can devote plenty of time and resources to them. Right now I am only housing my hens and a roo or two, the majority of the roosters are running loose so they aren't that much trouble. Time spent doing something you love was not wasted time!

People have asked to buy chicks/hens from me several times, I had no idea there was so much interest. My mom has even been wanting a few and she doesn't even have dogs or cats. In the future I may sell a few to help with the feed bill but right now I am building my flock, I cant part with any, lol.

I really do appreciate the warm welcome, I feared I might hear crickets chirping when I made the initial post. This isn't the only internet forum I am a member of and I have never seen an introduction thread get as many posts as the ones here at BYC. You guys make being a total newb pretty comfortable, thanks.

I'm getting eggs on the floor instead of in the nests so I'm off to do some research. They've just began laying and I want to get them started off on the right track.

Ten years ago, If someone would have told me I would soon be spending my Friday nights obsessing over a buncha stupid chickens, I would have laughed!
