You may regret asking for pics!!! ....... Here's our "photo diary" to date!!!
(The run is made as much as possible from reclaimed timber ...... we cut down scaffold boards to make the frame, which seemed to take forever!!! We cheated with the coop and bought one from eBay. I wouldn't rely on it being fully fox-proof on it's own, but housed within the run it's just perfect!!) Hope you like what we've done!!
Orpingtons are so beautiful! Good choice! Sounds like you've done your research and are ready to become chick-a-holics like the rest of us.......I would just keep an eye on that mean hen......right now, they are probably still establishing the pecking order. You might want to consider adding one more food dish in a separate location in the coop so that the younger ones can go to it if Gemima is being a bully.
Anyhow, good luck with your new adventure! I'm from the USA in Ohio!

That's what we'd thought ....... I guess we should do it sooner rather than later!! Thanks for the advice. (We've been sneaking in and hand feeding the little ones, but one (Bluebell) is clearly putting on more weight than Cheryl Cole, so we're keeping a close eye on her. Maybe it was a mistake naming her Cheryl Cole ....... if she's following her namesake's example, she'll be a skinny bird all her life!!!
