Just wanted to introduce myself, I'm Nancy from Tennessee. I have been keeping chickens for just over a year now and they are the best! Right now I have 12 in the brooder (six I hatched) and another 8 out free ranging the property. I also have two little Pekin Ducks named Noodles and Flipper. LOL

Glad you could join the flock! Sounds like you have a lovely flock there. Good luck with your brooder chicks, what breed/s are they? Chickens sure are the best as you have found out.

I hatched 6 (out of 9 eggs) Marans (all cute little fuzzy black one) and I have 6 Buff Opringtons (which were supposed to be Brahmas from TSC but they told me wrong) in with them. The Buffs are a couple of weeks older than the Marans, but they all get along just fine.

As for the ducks, I still don't know what sex they are yet (they are about a month old) so I tried to give them gender neutral names. LOL

I think with ducks the male will get one curled tail feather - I don't know what age that happens. You can also post on the "Duck thread."
