Hello, Sean, and welcome to BYC. If you have existing lung problems consult your doctor about possible problems with chickens. Masks are always an option. Pigeon dander can cause lung problems in many, but it is relatively rare with chickens.

Welcome! Glad you decided to join. As far as attracting rodents..... I store feed in a metal can with a snug lid. I use a hanging feeder, take feed out at night. For coop cleaning consider wearing a mask
